Weddings, commitment ceremonies—no matter the name, each one is a unique celebration Everyone should feel comfortable with the space. (There are plenty of other things to be nervous about!). Our Upper Assembly Hall and balcony can seat up to 500 wedding guests . And they offer a great view overlooking downtown Minneapolis and the Walker Art Center. Our entire facility has a new air-conditioning system installed in 2017. The smaller Dietrich Room can accommodate a more-intimate service. Guests with mobility issues can easily enter our building at street level. They can access other areas via a modern elevator.
Because we are Humanist Unitarian organization, we are glad to host couples from any or no particular religious tradition. You may engage one of our ministers as your Officiant or you may choose your own. LGBTQ couples are welcome.
You have access to our fine pipe organ and Steinway piano in the Upper Assembly Hall. Also, our excellent sound system accommodates other musicians.
Wedding Receptions
Finally, we offer several options for hosting your reception. The social hall one floor down is suitable for larger parties. In addition, the Dietrich Room, adjacent to the Upper Assembly Hall, is convenient for smaller groups. Normally couples engage a caterer of their choice. Some couples opt for an outdoor wedding (say, at Thomas Lowry Park across the street), but still need an indoor space for their reception. We would be glad to help.
Interested? As you know, wedding facilities are often booked well in advance so please get in touch with our Facilities Director, Tim Roehl, who would be glad to answer your questions or schedule a visit.
